Library Posters

Here are my posters for the Library assignment. The specs for the posters are as followed:

Poster one is 16 x 24. I still dont understand why the conversion is making it dark, it is not that dark. This is for page layout.

Poster two is 22 x 30. I focused on the theme of making the library week available to everyone within the city regions. The children's library is included which i had involved along with Zollinger Library to make more "Public" This is for Practicum/independent studies.

The Printable versions will be in my Google Drive and a link will be provided shortly.

Icons and logos

Here are my icons and logos for the mid critique. I was trying to incorporate my  alternate nickname for my logo design which was "Rabi" (Ra-Bee) unfortunately it did not work to my advantage to create something that was only 4 characters long. I decided to use my full first and last name for the assignment and created some ideas to incorporate the designs to my first and last initial.

The first logo I incorporated the mediums of graphic design.

The first combined creation was inspired by my favorite animal the rabbit as well as the different types of mediums that graphic design can be used on. The logo was based on continuation to incorporate the thick type of readable font on different materials.

The Second i involved my love of technology.
The second I included my interest for technology by using a hard drive innards as the icon. I got the inspiration to use figure ground as well as closure for my logo from the iphone death wheel when the battery runs dry.
I wanted to try a but more fun and different then the rest.
The third i created was to incorporate my favorite animal with a simplistic logo that was based on symmetry. The nice and clean one out of the bunch in my opinion. A rabbit with a brush and a need to create designs with his large brush.

Once again, take your time and leave feedback. Thank you and have a nice day.

Mardi Gras Finished Product

Here is the final product of the Mardi Gras poster. In tradition of anything that we posted in DDM i decided to go with the length of tabloid. Letter size did not match with my design so i went with tabloid so that there would be more leg room for both the design and the text flow. Minor tweaks will continue as i see fit within the poster. Collaborated with Michelle Eriacho for the design images.
Feedback is appreciated once again.

Finished Product.

Title and Doodles (Update fro Mardi Gras)

This is the update for the Mardi Gras assignment. Once again it is going to be a long one so hang in there once more, as i ramble like a dementia patient about my update.

In my train of thought i was thinking about the font types and how they would fit within the subject on the poster. (Keep in mind that these will be done by hand to keep the organic feel to the subject at hand)

         - Poster 1/3: The Bold type. i would often think of bold type that of a strong attention grabber, such as those that were used within the modern area of typography. The same idea would be used for the Mardi Gras design. Within the type i am going to include either a clipping mask or a design in the type itself. solid colors could work but it wouldn't really tie with the subject matter (in my opinion). The bold option would also work out well with tying the color scheme of the UNM colors or New Mexico Colors.

         - Poster 2/3: The Semi-Bold type. Semi-bold type i think gives Mard Gras a more professional insight with the subject matter at hand. The more sublet curves show the event matter in a more eye-catching manner and will flow substantially based on the amount of area that the type face holds. The curves will also tell the onlookers that the event will contain fun and games based on the soft curves it will give out when color is added onto the type. A fun type i must say...

       - Poster 3/3: The Artistic Type. My chosen one out of the bunch. Though i give a word of caution to this one fro everyone. In this poster i have included two fonts/ versions. The top version on the poster is the original type on which i am going to use. The simplistic sketch version i think, gives a much more artist involved type that would tie the subject matter as well as the font together completely. Another reason why i chose this font is because of how versatile it can be with the illustration and flow. Changing the way your type can flow is another one of the crucial elements that a designer must keep track of, in case the illustration should change, then the type can quickly change as well. Now onto the bottom version; this version is more toward the symbolism that Mardi Gras is based around. For example the ox head shape on the lower case R. (if you did your research on Mardi Gras and its history...) i have involved a few items for each letter that were involved with the annual celebration.

Random doodles

-Poster 4/3: Random Doodles. Not much explaining things here, just random doodles that i tried to think of and try to incorporate with the upcoming designs. if you see anything that might be of help, give a shout. Who knows? it might help in some way.

Welp, that's all i got to say about that. Critique and post your opinion.

Mardi Gras Sketch ideas

This post is going to be a long one so try to bear with me and my idea ramblings.

I mainly focused on a few different aspects on the mardi gras poster that i sketched out for you. The font placement, colors, font illustrations, and involvement with New Mexico.

1. Font placement:
    - I did numerous font placement that went on each idea so that it would cause a equal balance between the background image and the text. the placement is off and toward either the center or the right hand area, so that the image and the text will have equal areas on the page.

 2. Colors:
     - The mardi gras colors are distinguished by the hues of green, purple and gold. Through my sketches i tried to have a involvement with either the UNM colors or of the New Mexico colors. This was to break the barrier of standard colors that went with each subject that went with the word. Another idea was to not blend each color into each other. (Background blending into the font and vice versa)

3 . Font illustrations:
     - i had a few ideas that i thought was a good idea, and still is a good idea. If the background is too weak for the illustrations, one could help balance it out by creating illustraions with the information. to create a background and font flow that would work in harmony.

4. involvement with New Mexico:
     - The ideas i had to involve New Mexico are a bit rusty as i try to think of a way to incorporate both the illustration and the text to help with the idea. Though primarily it would depend on what the background would be. My idea went with font work instead as i tried to involve the colors. the event which its being held at (A.K.A. the University) had three different colors i tried to involve the text with, Lobo colors seem to connect with the piece and where its being held but something seems to be off on that color scheme. Another idea i had was to involve certain aspects of New Mexico. Such as the stairs of the mountains one would need to climb in order to visit ones ancestors teachings high atop the mountain.

(Page 1 to the upper left hand corner and page 2 would be the one on the right of page 2 and etc..)

These are the ideas I have been toying with and the involvement of the text. As with most sketches i will find a much suitable type font that will be he final choice for the background design and font compilation. if you have any questions or feedback on the sketchs with both the hand drawn or digital version, please refer to it as: (Handdrawn: ?/5 and Digital ?/4) It will be clear to both the feedbacker and the creator. Feedback time is now, start typing.
