Your design is good. But I got confused a little bit on what it was at first, did not know you were going for a hard drive, thought it was a DJ turntable or something like that. Only until I saw the title did it make sense. Maybe thats just me. The "RS" looks good combined but why does it seem to lose its boldness when it is seperated from the Hard drive. Did you have a stroke applied to the "RS"?
When the combined one gets smaller you can't see the "RS" as well. Have you considered using the white space on your hard drive around the "RS" as your logo. You could make it look like liquidy gel... ugh! this is hard to explain with showing a visual of what I'm trying to say. Also it doesn't really look like a hard drive, makes me think of a old school design for a new I-pod nano... ^^
What could maybe help is give the hard drive a bit of depth with some 3d feel. Make it a 3 dimensional thing with sides and maybe a shadow. The RS in the first page are too thin and need to be a little thicker or maybe more thin lines. They somehow got thicker in the 6 in example, remember to outline your strokes. Was a pain but it goes a long way. At least this RS is a lot more recognizable and it works, just a little tweak and should be a huge improvement.
