Poster one is 16 x 24. I still dont understand why the conversion is making it dark, it is not that dark. This is for page layout.
Poster two is 22 x 30. I focused on the theme of making the library week available to everyone within the city regions. The children's library is included which i had involved along with Zollinger Library to make more "Public" This is for Practicum/independent studies.
The Printable versions will be in my Google Drive and a link will be provided shortly.

you should've tried some of the tricks we learned in image editing 1&2 on the photos of the libraries. It looks too weird with it just being in a bubble. You could try the desaturate and threshold in photoshop for the images so you can use the whole building instead of putting them in a bubble. The solid color of the background doesn't match your photos. It has no flare to it that would make me want to stop and read it. Did knowledge really have to be capitalized or was it for emphasis?
ReplyDeleteFor the poster at the top communities and matter don't seem to be connecting. The community has way too many colors it makes it hard to automatically recognize the word. The direction of the pages for the grey, blue, and green is odd. I think the grey is fine without the pages cause it looks closed. Not really seeing the connection between your plaid background and the books. I know your work is 20 times better than this! And your type is usually over the top amazing but I'm not really seeing it in your posters.
For The Bottom Poster I Like That You Added The Address To The Library, Something I Should Have Added To Mine. For THe Top The Whole Plaid background Throws The Whole Design off. Your Books Could Use Work. I Agree With Danielle On your Work Being Better Than This.
ReplyDeleteOk. You have some good comments above. Time to apply them.
ReplyDeleteI don't really get the plaid. How does it fit with your message? The back grounds on both are competing with the type and images. If you want a pattern you might try marbling. Its the pattern that you find on the inside of older hard cover books. About half way down on this page there are some ideas on how to do this http://abouttimepublishing.wordpress.com/category/diy-bookbinding-2/
If you do, mute it. Drop the opacity so that it doesn't compete.
You need to establish a clear hierarchy of info. This is for Library Week, next important is either community, or the name of the library, and so on.
I'm not sure where the idea of having the address and phone number on the posters came from. Good idea, but your missing one. Look it up.
Isn't messing with the opacity something we shouldn't do but instead change the fill?
ReplyDeleteI would agree with Danielle about the opacity. Just find the right tones of color. The marble effect could replace the plaid like Chad mentioned. Not much new to add but your second one could be better with perhaps more photos. Maybe pictures of the interior of each and kept to their correct side so we don't confuse readers with what they can find in each library.
ReplyDeleteI like the concept but just work with your ideas in your concept and you will be okay. i like the simple art of your work and how you apply your ideas, but keep it just one or two tone. (the attitude).
ReplyDeleteThe top poster is too funky with the plaid...
ReplyDeleteBut I really like the second poster for it's simplicity. The theme & info all tie together well but I think something could be added to make it more interesting.
